Easy To Understand Linksys Velop Setup Guide

Linksys Velop is the perfect networking device for today's vast networking needs. It comes with additional nodes therefore you get to experience wider, lightning fast and seamless connectivity throughout the place. Did you also get one? If yes, then this post is all that you require for carrying out a successful Linksys Velop setup. The setup process is easy even for those who aren't tech geeks. We'll list down guidance for two different methods. So let's dig into it.

Using Reset Key For The Setup

Is your internet connection type automatic (DHCP)? If yes, then by pushing the reset key of the main velop router for five times you'll be able to complete the Linksys Velop setup. Here's the complete step-by-step guidance:

  • Firstly, disconnect your existing router from the modem. Then for a fresh pairing with the Velop router, you need to reboot the modem.

  • Now bring the Velop router near to the modem. Take an Ethernet wire. With the help of it establish a connection between the router and the modem.

  • Wait till the power LED turns stable and purple in color. Meanwhile the main node is booting up, you can place your child nodes within the range of the main velop node and power them on as well.

  • Thereafter locate the reset button on the main node. As you find it, push it every second for five times. Do not hold the key. With this you'll notice that the light on top of the node has started to flicker. This means the Linksys Velop Setup has begun. The main node will also detect the child nodes. Thus the light on the top panel of nodes will also start blinking.

  • Now all you need to do is wait, wait for the lights to turn solid blue. This indicates a successful connection.

  • Finally you can now reposition the nodes for creating a web of networks. So that whenever you move around your abode with your smart devices, you won't face signal drop issues or wifi dead zones. You can pair up your devices using the credentials that are written on the main node's bottom panel.

Setting Up Linksys Velop Via Internet Browser

So if your internet connection type is other than DHCP (automatic) then you can use this traditional setup method which requires use of a web browser.

Firstly reboot the modem after disconnecting the existing router. Take up Ethernet cable. Plug it into the main velop’s internet port and slide the other end into the modem. Power on the devices and wait for the power LED on the router to turn purple.

Moving further, place your child nodes if any and power them on as well. Keep the nodes closer to the router. Let them boot up. Now for further Linksys Velop Setup you require a smart device. Take up the device. Enable its wifi. Note down the credentials that are written at the bottom of the main node. Use these exact credentials and establish a wireless connection.

Thereafter open Google Chrome or any other up-to-date browser. In the URL blank fill up myrouter.local and tap enter. Tap on the mobile icon to bypass the blocking window. Now tap on reset password. Fill up the recovery key and then create the router password. Once done hit on Sign in.

Now you have made it to the main Linksys velop setup page. So scroll to the bottom and tap on the CA Link. Then select connectivity option and following it tap on Router setup tab. Fill in the information and hit on Setup Node. With this the top panel light of the Velop unit will start blinking. Once the configuration completes you get an option to connect. Tap on it and with this you'll get a pop up saying the node is configured. Additionally the blinking light will turn solid blue. Lastly, follow the interface guidance for adding the child nodes.
